Nha Trang

Nha Trang, đôi khi viết là Nhatrang, là thành phố biển du lịch nổi tiếng nhất Việt Nam và là trung tâm lặn biển của cả nước. So với các điểm đến biển khác như Mũi Né hay Phú Quốc, Nha Trang có phong cách sôi động và đô thị hơn nhiều.

Tổng quan

Dấu tích cư dân ở Nha Trang có từ thời Vương quốc Chăm, tuy nhiên dưới triều đại người Việt, nơi đây chỉ là những làng chài nhỏ bé. Người Pháp nhận ra rằng vịnh biển đẹp này, với các đảo nhỏ và bãi cát trắng, là nơi tắm biển lý tưởng và bắt đầu biến nó thành thị trấn nghỉ dưỡng. Lính Mỹ cũng đồng quan điểm, và Nha Trang trở thành điểm nghỉ ngơi, giải trí (R&R) yêu thích trong thời chiến.

Sau khi chiến tranh Việt Nam kết thúc, quân đội Liên Xô ngày càng hiện diện nhiều hơn tại vịnh Cam Ranh, ngay phía nam Nha Trang. Sau khi giải ngũ, nhiều cựu quân nhân Nga định cư tại Nha Trang và mở các dịch vụ du lịch, dẫn đến làn sóng du khách Nga ngày càng đông đảo — hiện nay họ chiếm phần lớn lượng khách nước ngoài. Trong khu vực du lịch chính của Nha Trang, biển hiệu tiếng Nga còn phổ biến hơn cả tiếng Anh. Bước sang thế kỷ 21, du khách Trung Quốc cũng trở nên khá đông đúc, giống như ở các nơi khác trong Đông Nam Á.

Tuy nhiên, Nha Trang hoàn toàn không phải là một thành phố resort Tây hóa như Kuta ở Bali — nơi đây cực kỳ phổ biến với du khách người Việt, những người thường ra bãi biển vào sáng sớm và chiều muộn, còn phần còn lại trong ngày dành cho các hoạt động khác như tắm bùn hoặc Vinpearl Land — được mệnh danh là Disneyland của Việt Nam, dù thực ra gần giống với Sentosa của Singapore hơn.

Khí hậu

Mùa mưa ở Nha Trang kéo dài từ tháng 10 đến giữa tháng 12. Gió biển có thể rất mạnh và đôi khi thời tiết trở nên khá lạnh. Vào mùa hè, lượng khách du lịch tăng cao và phòng khách sạn trở nên khó tìm hơn.

Chuyến bay quốc tế đến KL Malaysia (Airasia), Bangkok (BangkokAir, AirAsia), Seoul, Hàn Quốc và các thành phố tại Trung Quốc bao gồm Hong Kong (via HK Express).

Di chuyển đến và đi từ sân bay:

  • Bằng taxi – Giá cố định từ sân bay đến trung tâm thành phố là 250.000 đồng. Nếu đi theo đồng hồ, giá sẽ đắt hơn khoảng 100.000 đồng.
  • Bằng xe buýt – xe buýt sân bay đi thẳng vào trung tâm thành phố; 65.000 đồng, hành trình 50 phút. Có một số hãng khai thác tuyến này, chẳng hạn xe buýt sân bay màu vàng Đất Mới (số 18) với 16 chỗ ngồi, đỗ ngay phía trước lối ra chính của sân bay. Xe dừng tại một số khách sạn lớn — trong khu vực du lịch truyền thống, điểm thường xuống xe là khách sạn Liberty Central. Bến xe Đất Mới là điểm đầu và cuối của tuyến xe buýt sân bay số 18. Bản đồ trực tuyến ghi địa điểm này là Land Transport Corp New. Tuyến xe này cũng có thể dùng để đi bãi biển Bãi Dài một cách tiết kiệm.
  • Bằng xe đưa đón – Một số khách sạn tầm trung và cao cấp tổ chức đưa đón sân bay, thường miễn phí.

Bằng tàu hỏa

Nha Trang là ga dừng trên tuyến đường sắt chính nối Hà Nội và TP. Hồ Chí Minh. Chuyến đi từ TP. Hồ Chí Minh đến Nha Trang mất 6–8 tiếng trên tàu SE (thường hay trễ giờ), nên không nhất thiết phải đặt toa giường nằm. Phong cảnh dọc tuyến này không ấn tượng bằng các đoạn phía bắc, nên đi ban đêm cũng không bỏ lỡ quá nhiều.

Vì giá vé từ TP.HCM khá đắt, có thể dừng lại ở Mũi Né (đi xe buýt đến đó) trên đường đi sẽ tiết kiệm hơn.

Bằng xe buýt

Hầu hết các xe khách giường nằm đường dài đều ghé Nha Trang. Xe chạy từ TP. Hồ Chí Minh (10–12 tiếng, có cả chuyến sáng và chuyến đêm, đều là xe giường nằm), Hội An (12 tiếng). Ngoài ra, có xe chạy hàng giờ từ Đà Lạt (3–4 tiếng, mỗi giờ một chuyến từ 07:00–15:00) và một vài chuyến từ Quy Nhơn (6 tiếng, 115.000 đồng, khởi hành lúc 07:30, 08:30, 13:00 và 15:30), Mũi Né (6 tiếng).

Lưu ý: xe du lịch (open tour) thường trả khách gần khu vực du lịch.

Bằng ô tô

Thuê xe ô tô riêng có tài xế thường là xe hiện đại có máy lạnh, giá thuê khoảng 1.000.000 đồng/ngày. Giá thuê xe (như hầu hết mọi thứ ở Việt Nam) thường tăng vào các dịp lễ, đặc biệt là dịp Tết Nguyên Đán. Hãy đặt trước để tránh giá cao.

Định hướng

Nha Trang có hai bãi biển chính: một bãi lớn ở phía nam sông Cái và một bãi nhỏ hơn ở phía bắc. Bãi biển phía nam, chạy dọc theo đại lộ Trần Phú, là bãi biển được du khách lui tới nhiều nhất. Cơ sở hạ tầng du lịch phục vụ khách nước ngoài — gồm các trung tâm dạy lặn, công ty lữ hành, quán bar kiểu phương Tây, nhà hàng và cà phê quốc tế — tập trung chủ yếu ở phần phía nam bãi biển, giữa đường Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai và sân bay cũ. Khu vực giữa bãi biển là nơi tọa lạc của các khách sạn chuỗi quốc tế cao cấp như Sheraton, Novotel và InterContinental. Phần còn lại của bờ biển cùng với bãi biển phía bắc chủ yếu phục vụ du khách người Việt. Lui vào vài con phố phía trong, Nha Trang là một thành phố Việt Nam bình thường, nhộn nhịp và sôi động.

Bằng xe máy

Ở Nha Trang, cũng như ở các nơi khác tại Việt Nam, xe máy là phương tiện ít an toàn nhất nhưng tiện lợi nhất để di chuyển, đặc biệt khi muốn ra bãi biển hay các điểm tham quan ngoài thành phố. Xem thêm hướng dẫn chung: du lịch Việt Nam bằng xe máy.

Bằng xe buýt

Mạng lưới xe buýt nội thành Nha Trang khá hữu ích cho du khách có nhiều thời gian hơn tiền bạc. Xe buýt cũng có thể dùng để đến những điểm tham quan và địa điểm thú vị xa hơn bên ngoài Nha Trang.

Xe buýt có màu trắng và xanh, có máy lạnh, phát nhạc Việt và giá rất rẻ, thường khoảng 10.000 đồng. Dù thông tin về xe buýt thành phố khá ít — cả online lẫn ngoài thực tế — nhưng vì số lượng tuyến không nhiều nên khá dễ nắm bắt. Bạn cũng có thể tra cứu trên OpenStreetMap (được hướng dẫn du lịch này và các ứng dụng như OsmAnd, Mapy.cz, Organic Maps và Maps.Me sử dụng) để tìm các trạm xe buýt trong và xung quanh Nha Trang — tên trạm thường có số tuyến và gợi ý lộ trình. Một số tuyến có thể theo dõi trên bản đồ qua ứng dụng miễn phí của VinBus.

Xe buýt hiếm khi đông đúc ngoại trừ giờ cao điểm. Hạn chế là tần suất chạy thưa, giờ hoạt động hạn chế, tài xế và nhân viên thu vé ít khi biết tiếng Anh, và các trạm dừng thường cách xa nhau. Vì vậy, hãy đảm bảo bạn có đủ thời gian và sự kiên nhẫn trước khi đi xe buýt.

Xe buýt chỉ thanh toán bằng tiền mặt. Nhân viên thu vé có thể thối tiền lẻ, nhưng tránh dùng tờ mệnh giá lớn. Như ở các thành phố khác tại Việt Nam, xe buýt thường không dừng hẳn để đón khách — thậm chí khi dừng, xe có thể bắt đầu chuyển bánh ngay khi người đầu tiên bước lên. Vì vậy, đừng vội trả tiền ngay khi vừa lên xe; hãy tìm chỗ ngồi hoặc đứng, nhân viên thu vé sẽ đến chỗ bạn.

Các tuyến xe buýt:

  • Xe buýt số 5 chạy chủ yếu dọc bờ biển, giữa bến cáp treo Vinpearl ở phía nam và Hòn Xện ở phía bắc, thích hợp để đến đường mòn leo núi Núi Cô Tiên.

  • Xe buýt số 4 có lẽ là tuyến hữu ích nhất với du khách, vì đi qua khu vực du lịch chính (giữa Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai và sân bay cũ) cũng như nhiều điểm tham quan, bao gồm cửa vào cáp treo Vinpearl, mũi Hòn Chồng, tháp Ponagar và Nhà thờ Nha Trang, cũng như gần chợ Đầm. Du khách lưu trú trong khu du lịch chính có thể bắt xe ở Nguyễn Thiện Thuật.

  • Xe buýt số 3 cũng đi qua khu du lịch chính và có thể dùng để đến bãi biển Dốc Lết. Dù mất ít nhất 90 phút, đây là một trong số ít cách đến Dốc Lết cho du khách không có phương tiện riêng. Khi tìm trạm số 3, nên hỏi người địa phương vì đôi khi các trạm bị gộp lại và không ở đúng vị trí bạn nghĩ.

Đi bộ

Dù không nguy hiểm như ở Hà Nội hay TP. Hồ Chí Minh, đi bộ ở Nha Trang cũng chẳng phải chuyện dễ dàng. Vạch kẻ đường dành cho người đi bộ gần như vô nghĩa vì không có xe nào dừng lại nhường đường, và ít ỏi đèn giao thông trong thành phố thường bị bỏ qua. Vỉa hè gần như không thể đi vì bị chiếm dụng hoàn toàn bởi xe máy đậu, quầy hàng và bàn ghế nhà hàng — khiến người đi bộ phải xuống lòng đường. Xem thêm hướng dẫn chung về qua đường ở Việt Nam.

Một trong số ít nơi đi bộ dễ chịu ở Nha Trang là con đường dạo dọc bãi biển, được giữ gìn khá tốt và có vườn hoa, công trình tưởng niệm và khu vui chơi công cộng đẹp mắt, dù đôi khi bị ngắt quãng bởi bãi đậu xe máy.

Bằng taxi

Tài xế taxi Mai Linh (ưu tiên hơn) hoặc Vinasun thường dùng đồng hồ tính tiền và không cố tình lừa khách. Một chuyến đi trong nội thành Nha Trang không bao giờ nên tốn quá vài chục nghìn đồng. Ngược lại, đi taxi đến các địa điểm ngoài thành phố có thể tốn hàng trăm nghìn đồng, thậm chí nhiều hơn nếu bạn muốn tài xế chờ để đưa bạn về. Xem danh sách đầy đủ taxi Nha Trang

Grab hiện đã hoạt động ở Nha Trang với dịch vụ xe hơi và xe máy công nghệ qua ứng dụng điện thoại.

Các ứng dụng gọi xe như Grab phổ biến rộng rãi tại đây, thường tiện lợi và minh bạch về giá hơn so với việc vẫy taxi ngoài đường.

Bằng xích lô

Thuê xích lô chở cả ngày là một lựa chọn thú vị để khám phá các địa điểm trong thành phố. Giá khoảng 15 USD chưa tính tiền tip. Lịch trình bao gồm các điểm tham quan trong nội thành, bưu điện và lựa chọn nhà hàng, từ 08:00–19:00. Tài xế có thể không nói tiếng Anh lưu loát. Điểm cộng lớn là tài xế sẽ giúp bạn xua đuổi những người bán hàng rong! Hiện nay các xích lô đều chạy bằng điện hỗ trợ và được trang trí đèn LED nhiều màu vào buổi tối. Tuy nhiên, giá đắt hơn taxi cho các chuyến đi ngắn.

Bằng xe đạp

Nha Trang khá bằng phẳng và xe đạp có thể thuê với giá thường từ 30.000 đến 50.000 đồng/ngày cho loại xe đạp cơ bản không có số, nếu bạn may mắn tìm được chỗ thuê. Người địa phương thường đi xe đạp vào buổi tối khi trời mát và không có nắng gắt. Tuy nhiên, nếu chưa quen với giao thông Việt Nam, hãy cân nhắc kỹ trước khi đạp xe ở Nha Trang. 🧭 12.2656,109.1954 These four brick towers were built by the Cham civilization between the 7th and 12th centuries to honour Yang Ino Po Ngar, mother of the kingdom, and the aroma of incense emanating from within makes it clear that this remains a religious site for the local Buddhists of Nha Trang today. The longevity of these last vestiges of a once-dominant SE Asian civilisation should impress temple enthusiasts even if the insensitive restoration and surrounding mass of tourists don’t. The small complex sits on a hill which enjoys views across Nha Trang’s fishing village. It is a 20- to 25-min walk (or short motorbike ride) from the main beach strip, however be prepared to wander through the real Nha Trang, quite an abrupt change from the showy built-up beach side resort. Public Bus 4 stops near the Cham Towers.

These students have no affiliation with the school and entry to the pagoda is free.

🧭 12.2510,109.1960 This is a scientific museum of Swiss-born Dr. Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943), who arrived in Vietnam in 1891 to study infected animals. He later produced a serum from horses and buffaloes. In this museum, you will be able to view all of his work as well as his equipment. Yersin never went back to Switzerland and spent the rest of his life in Nha Trang. Don’t try to take pictures. Do respect the rules as they’re quite serious here.

Receives mixed reviews, many consider it over-priced.

It was fenced by walls of 3.5 m height, surrounded by moats of 4-5 m deep and 10 m wide. It was built with 6 gates, but only 4 of them remain.

🧭 12.167,109.054 Fairy Spring is a small, cool stream and swimming hole much visited by local kids on weekends. The swimming hole is at the end of a short jungle walk. It is a pleasant place to visit in summer. In winter the water is too cold to swim. The stream’s source is the area of Hồn Bà, the highest peak in the province. Bottled and canned drinks are available, but no food is sold here yet. The area is slowly being developed and will eventually become a resort with a hotel, bungalows, and restaurant.

🧭 12.382483,109.1329 A series of three waterfalls and a fast flowing river tucked away in the forest. There are limited amenities, although you can buy food like rice, chicken, beers and soft drinks. Taxis are available in Nha Trang to take you there, but it’s not too difficult to find yourself and with good weather it’s a pleasant drive, if you are confident on a motorbike. It’s a good one hour trip from Nha Trang by motorbike through some rough, off-road tracks (especially in the wet season). The turn off from the main highway north of Nha Trang can be easy to miss (a stone pillar), but most locals along the road should be able to point it out. From the turn off it’s a straight track to the river. You may want to bring some sturdy shoes to climb across the rocks and swimming gear for a dip when you get there. It will take about 45 minutes from the entrance of the tourist area to the lakes. There is an orphanage very close to the lakes (take a right turn when you get to a T-junction in the rice fields) that would really benefit from any gifts of vegetarian food (take milk, tofu, yogurt, etc.). Call Dieu An, the nun at +84 90 5823807. She speaks only Vietnamese.

Monkey Island (see) 🧭 12.3596,109.2151 Catch a ferry to Monkey Island (the pier is 1 km further north of island), which is full of monkeys, has a 10:00 circus and simple go-cart track.

  • Tour du thuyền – Giá thông thường cho một tour đảo cả ngày là khoảng 6 USD/người, bao gồm lặn snorkeling, câu cá và nhiều hoạt động khác. Tour thường có bữa trưa và đồ uống trên tàu. Có rất nhiều đại lý bán tour, nên hãy so sánh lịch trình để chọn phù hợp nhất.

Swimming pools (do) People come here to swim in the sea, but there are also a number of swimming pools. Louisiane Brewhouse has a good one that is free to use. Hiring a soft chaise longue costs 40,000 dong. The Yasaka Saigon Nha Trang Hotel coffee shop in Yersin St has a small shady pool for free use. A number of mid-range hotels also have pools, some of which can be used by non-guests. Sea and Sun Hotel has a nice rooftop pool and costs 70,000 dong for non-guests. There is another large public pool at Yersin st, opposite the hospital, for 30,000 dong. Another option is Central Park on Tran Phu, near Louisiane Brewhouse. Buy a deckchair for 60,000 or 120,000 and swim for free. Has a small diving board for kids, a lazy river, and a pool bar.

Daily pass 20,000 dong; monthly pass, 200,000 dong. Besides, Novotel Hotel also has gym memberships for non-guests, which provide access to the swimming pool, sauna and relaxation room. A daily pass costs 200,000 dong, one-month pass 1,400,000 dong, 3-month pass 2,700,000 dong. Monthly passes include one free massage; ask about this when purchasing. The Sheraton Hotel probably has the best gym in town with excellent views, but costs US for one month, and this doesn’t include use of the swimming pool.

Bãi biển

Nha Trang Beach (do) 🧭 12.2472,109.1968 The city’s main beach, south of the Cai river, is about 6 km long and lined with a beautiful, well-maintained promenade containing walking paths, gardens, monuments and leisure spaces. The beach itself has a broad strip of sand, and the calm waters are extremely inviting for swimming - but care is needed, as the waters get deep very quickly. While Nha Trang’s beach is hardly one of the most beautiful beaches of Southeast Asia, it can still provide one of the best urban beach experiences in the region. You will see many female vendors walking along the beach selling fruit and hot, steamed seafood. Vietnamese typically come to the beach during sunrise and sunset, with the Russians occupying the beach en masse during the peak sunshine hours. Make sure that you visit in the right season. The beach can be disappointing when the weather is grey and the waves choppy. The experience is then one of murky sandy waters, a strip of standard brown sand with a multitude of empty beach chairs and no one to be seen.

Bai Duong Beach (do) 🧭 12.2751,109.2024 North of the Cai river, Bai Duong beach is smaller than in the main tourist area. It is a beautiful beach, but the sewage channels make it somewhat less appealing. The beach is mostly popular among Vietnamese visitors, and hence quite empty during peak sunshine hours. Near the beach there are several seafood restaurants catering to Vietnamese tourists. It can be reached using bus #4.

🧭 12.2729,109.2065 Scenic rock formations in the sea. The disposition of the rocks, as well as the sculpture of a giant fist mark in one of them, is mysterious and a source of several folk tales. You can climb the rocks and get some nice views of Bai Doung Beach and the nearby islands. It can be reached using bus #4.

Hòn Tre island (do) 🧭 12.2111,109.2809 Has several nice beaches, but almost of all them are of exclusive access to guests of the Vinpearl resorts. The exception is the small beach in front of the Vinpearl Land’s waterpark, which is accessible for those who bought a ticket to Vinpearl Land. The beach offers waterports and contains a Russian restaurant.

Doc Let Beach (do) 🧭 12.5571,109.2302 Located in the Ninh Hòa district north of Nha Trang, Doc Let is a beautiful, long beach with shallow, crystal-clear waters. The water has weak waves, but it is still excellent for swimming. Local fisher families sell and prepare seafood they will cook for you on the beach for a very reasonable price. The southern part of the beach contains the Ninh Hòa fishing village, where the north of the beach contains some relatively inexpensive resorts or it still underdeveloped. The best parts of the beach are the ones in front of the resorts, with the rest unfortunately with a lot of rubbish thrown by locals. You can pay a fee to rent a chair and use the showers/restrooms of White Sand Doclet resort or Paradise resort. Doc Let beach can be reached from Nha Trang using bus #3, by motorbike, and by some day tous generally aimed at Russian visitors. Bai Dai is in the middle of a frenetic process of development, with upscale resorts being built nonstop in the beachfront. Even so, the beach is very long and it is still possible to find yourself alone if you walk enough. It has beautiful blue waters, soft sand and it is pleasant to walk upon as it is less steep than the beach in Nha Trang, but rubbish can also be a problem in areas which are not in the front of resorts. Seafood is served at many shacks with deckchairs right on the beach. Probably best to go by motorcycle. The airport bus number 18 might be another option. Get off by road entrance leading to The Shack Vietnam.

Ngay ngoài khơi Nha Trang là một chuỗi đảo nhỏ với điều kiện lặn và snorkeling tương đối tốt, dễ dàng đến bằng tour trong ngày. Thành phố có khoảng hai chục cửa hàng lặn, tạo nên sự cạnh tranh khốc liệt và mức giá hấp dẫn. Khóa học open water PADI kèm thuê thiết bị có giá khoảng 250 USD. Chuyến lặn hai dive bằng thuyền kèm thuê thiết bị và bữa trưa đơn giản có giá khoảng 45 USD.

Các công trình xây dựng ven biển và dưới đáy biển đã làm khuấy đục nhiều trầm tích trong khu vực, nên tầm nhìn dưới nước đôi khi không được tốt. Vùng biển bị đánh bắt nhiều nên cũng ít cá. Bạn sẽ không vượt nửa vòng trái đất chỉ để lặn ở Nha Trang. Nhưng nếu bạn từng mơ ước có bằng lặn scuba, Nha Trang là nơi khá phù hợp để học. Các cửa hàng thường có thiết bị chất lượng tốt và hướng dẫn viên lặn có chứng chỉ, giàu kinh nghiệm. Lặn diễn ra quanh năm, nhưng vào mùa gió tháng 10–12, chuyến đi thuyền có thể khá lắc lư và việc lặn bị giới hạn ở một số điểm khuất gió sau đảo.

Cách tổ chức ngành lặn ở Nha Trang đôi khi khá phức tạp. Nếu bạn đăng ký tour với cửa hàng A, có thể bạn sẽ thấy mình đi cùng nhóm và hướng dẫn viên từ cửa hàng B, chia sẻ con thuyền với một nhóm và hướng dẫn viên khác từ cửa hàng C, còn bản thân chiếc thuyền lại thuộc sở hữu của một bên độc lập. Việc ghép nhóm đặc biệt phổ biến vào mùa thấp điểm, khi gần như không cửa hàng nào lấp đầy được một thuyền. Đây là minh chứng thú vị về văn hóa Việt Nam — không cầu kỳ hình thức, thích mặc cả và rất giỏi tận dụng tối đa nguồn lực. Các hướng dẫn viên lặn địa phương phần lớn là những người tốt bụng, thân thiện và có nhiều câu chuyện hay để kể.

Beer is cheap, and you just mark a chit on a sheet on the refrigerator to keep track of your total. The beach in front is beautiful and usually deserted except for some village children. It is very easy to sleep a week away there in a hammock kissed by sea breezes. There is usually various travellers there to socialise with at meals and in the evenings. You can rent a motorbike in Nha Trang for the easy ride up to Doc Let. Any buses can also drop you on the main road for a 10 minute walk to Paradise. Vladimir will also drop you in Nha Trang on the back of his scooter if he’s going into town. He usually drives his car into Nha Trang on Saturdays so could be a good day to arrive or leave and get a free trip in or out.

Nguy cơ trộm cắp vặt ở Nha Trang, đặc biệt vào đêm khuya, khá cao so với nhiều nơi khác ở châu Á. Tội phạm phổ biến nhất là móc túi sau nửa đêm gần Sailing Club. Ban ngày tương đối an toàn, tuy nhiên nạn giật túi trên bãi biển không phải hiếm gặp — vì vậy đừng mang đồ vật có giá trị ra biển. Không đeo nhiều trang sức và luôn để mắt đến tài sản cá nhân. Nên đi theo nhóm khi ra ngoài vào ban đêm. Người đi bar về nên đi taxi thay vì xe ôm. Nam giới đi một mình từ bar hoặc club về khách sạn vào sáng sớm — đặc biệt nếu có chút hơi men — từ những nơi như Sailing Club hay Why Not Bar, nên cẩn thận với những người phụ nữ chủ động tiếp cận, thường là hai hoặc ba người, kèm theo một vài gã trên xe máy đậu xa quan sát và sẵn sàng đóng vai tẩu thoát hoặc can thiệp nếu xảy ra chuyện. Họ tỏ ra thân thiện, dễ mến, trước tiên kiểm tra xem bạn có gì giá trị và để ở đâu, rồi lấy đi. Nạn nhân thường không biết mình bị cướp cho đến khi về phòng hoặc khi thức dậy. Cảnh tượng này xảy ra gần như mỗi đêm, đôi khi có thể thấy cả cảnh du khách say rượu bị cướp. Kỳ lạ thay, không thấy bóng cảnh sát, cũng không có nhân viên an ninh khách sạn hay bar can thiệp.

Nếu muốn gửi tiền, khách sạn thường sẵn sàng bảo quản trong két an toàn. Hộ chiếu được giữ riêng vì khách sạn cần dùng để khai báo lưu trú hằng ngày với cơ quan chức năng. Tốt hơn là giao bản photocopy hộ chiếu (trang thông tin cá nhân và visa) thay vì hộ chiếu gốc. Không bao giờ nên giao hộ chiếu cho bất kỳ ai ngoài cơ quan chức năng. Không để tiền trong hộ chiếu. Để một ít tiền trong túi khác với ví/đai bụng tiền. Không để lộ tiền khi thanh toán những khoản nhỏ.

Nạn cướp giật trên xe máy khá phổ biến ở Nha Trang. Tiền và đồ vật đã bị giật ngay trên tay du khách.

Nếu thuê xe máy, hãy kiểm tra công ty bảo hiểm của bạn có chi trả cho tai nạn khi đi xe máy ở châu Á không — thường là không.

Không nên tranh cãi với người cố tình vòi tiền. Điều này bao gồm người bán hàng rong, xe ôm, v.v. Họ có thể dễ dàng nổi nóng và thậm chí dùng đến đá hoặc vũ khí giấu sẵn. Dù đôi khi khó thoát hơn những nơi khác, tốt nhất là tránh xa những người này ngay từ đầu.

Có một phản ánh tiêu cực về xe TM Brothers: xe bị cho là trong tình trạng xuống cấp và một số bị gián xâm nhập. Tuy nhiên, giá vé của họ thường rẻ hơn các hãng khác vài đô la.

Hiện nay không còn nhiều quán internet như trước vì hầu hết khách sạn đều có Wi-Fi và/hoặc máy tính miễn phí cho khách sử dụng. Đây là lựa chọn tốt hơn nhiều cho các cuộc gọi thoại và video. Gọi điện từ điện thoại trong phòng khách sạn thường có giá khá cao.

SIM điện thoại di động có bán rộng rãi, Mobifone có vẻ là lựa chọn tốt nhất cho khách du lịch. SIM có giá 50.000 đồng hoặc nhỉnh hơn tùy nơi mua, kèm theo khoảng 100.000 đồng tín dụng sử dụng trong tháng đầu. Họ cũng cung cấp gói 3G, ví dụ 1,5 GB trong một tháng giá 120.000 đồng.
